  • Stage 1- Sensing
    • You hear it or have the attention of the speaker
  • Stage 2 Interpreting
    • You make sense of what is being said
  • Stage 3- Evaluating
    • You judge what the message is about in context
    • How you evaluate determines how you will respond
  • Stage 4- Responding
    • You offer feedback, advice, or a similar reaction

You and the speaker must listen to each other and respond for successful communication
